Rabbit care sheet for your new baby rabbit
Everybody who purchases a baby rabbit from us will receive a rabbit care sheet with all the important bits on to get you started.
DRY FOOD
Your new rabbit has been fed on rabbit pellets ecconamix biscuits, oaten Charff.
I will supply a few days worth of food,if you wish to change to a different brand ie:excel or a pets shop own please do so gradually by introducing a bit at a time. Try not to feed muesli type as they will selective feed which is not good for them. Your new rabbit will also need additional fibre in his diet.Your new rabbit is used to straw if you wish to introduce hay please do so gradually.
FRUITS AND VEGETABLES
Your new rabbit is used to having very small amounts of apple, Parsley , Herbs and carrot.if you feed them too much it can cause them to have an upset stomach.PLEASE NEVER FEED YOUR RABBIT LETTUCE!!
DROPPINGS
Rabbits droppings should be round,hard and dry they should never be runny,sticky or smelly.They do produce nighttime droppings which are softer and stick together in groups.Rabbits will eat their own droppings as it is more nutritious eaten again.If your rabbit does have diarrhea please consult a vet as it can be fatal.
WATER
You should make sure your rabbit has clean fresh water at all times.
BEDDING
Woods havings are commonly used more than sawdust in bedding also have hay/straw in the bedding.
PLAYTIME
Rabbits love to play they ideally need 2-5 hours outside of their hutch to exercise their legs.although sometimes this is not possible due to work commitments and weather .They are quite happy to throw around a used toilet roll in their cage or a cardboard box.
TREATS
To be given in moderation until 16 weeks old.
